The Maze is the most remote, and least accessible part of Canyonlands National Park. Four-wheel drive roads are treacherous and unmarked. The National Park Service warns those permitted to travel that they must be self-sufficient, and not expect a rescue in case of emergency. With the gauntlet thrown, Mike, Dan, Adam and Aron were all IN! Kudos to Aron for planning, and special thanks to Adam for the photography.
- Adam, Dan and Mike working their way down Stevens Slot Canyon.
- A gnarly, twisted turn in the slot canyon required a climbing rope.
- Aron cooked up delicious back country gourmet meals.
- Adam can’t believe that UP is actually the only way OUT.
- Relying on the sunny (and incorrect) forecast, Aron paid the price for not using a rainfly on his tent.
- Brilliant rainbow captured after the surprise storm.
- It took a S-L-O-W six hours of jeeping to get into the Maze.
- The ancestral Pueblos hauled seeds and grain in baskets up to these stone structures which they sealed in mud.
- Welcome to the Dollhouse, a large outcropping of Cedar Mesa Sandstone, weathered into a glorious array of towers and spires.
- Mike and Dan, deep in the heart of the Maze.
- Relaxing after a hard day of hiking.
- Ahh! The beauty and serenity of the great outdoors.
