Mike backpacked 30 miles up the Bogachiel trail in Olympic National Park. He wanted to visit the trail crews that we help sponsor with our foundation. Part of their work was to historically restore a shelter, using only manual equipment, per the US Wilderness Act.
- Larry Lack, Olympic National Park Trail Manager hiked along with Mike.
- Mike in his VERY lightweight tent. Sparse accomodations!
- Crews building a wooden walkway over a muddy ravine.
- An emergency shelter, originally built in 1926, will be restored by the crew.
- Learning to split cedar shakes.
- Christina met Mike for a short hike, followed by a dip in Sol Duc hot springs.
- What a great letter from Larry Lack.
