It was cold and snowy at Paws Up, in the Blackfoot Valley, about 30 minutes outside of Missoula, MT. Although this resort can hold over 250 people in multiple cabins, we were quite literally the ONLY ones at the resort. It was surreal.
- Curling! Harder than it looks, that curling stone weighs 42 lbs.
- My challenge was not to wipe out on the ice whilst sweeping.
- Waiting for Mike to take a cookie break before I make a sly pawn move…
- Snowmobiling under dramatic skies.
- What the heck – we’re waterproof after all!
- The hotel in Garnet, once a booming gold mine town. Really wealthy folks who stayed here to collect their gold had their trunks hoisted to the second floor (the stairwell was too narrow). They paid $5 per night for a room.
- Back at the turn of the last century, wallpaper was expensive. Papering the walls with newspaper provided something of interest to read.
- Mike at one of thirteen saloons that graced this town of 1,000 tipsy people.
- The bears are so friendly here!
- Dogsledding with retired Iditarod dogs.
- Such enthusiasm! They eat snow to quench their thirst, even while running.
- If you get cold while dogsledding, you can warm up in the basket – with a dog’s eye level view of the action.
