We drove around southern Maine, being tourists. Lots of lighthouses, and great weather in July!
- Kennebunkport, Maine is a tiny little seaside town, best known for the Bush clan, who have had an estate here for generations.

- A tribute to George H.W. Bush by the community that loved him. Bush estate in the background.
- Cape Elizabeth Lighthouse construction began in 1787, at the behest of George Washington. The first light was from whale oil lamps.
- The Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse was built in the 1800’s – it’s known as a “spark plug” lighthouse because of its shape.
- Enormous granite boulders form a breakwater that is tricky to walk on – huge gaps.
- We ferried to Peaks Island to discover the world’s largest umbrella cover museum, per the Guinness Book of World Records.

- The gulf of Maine is warming faster than 99% of the world’s oceans. Experts say lobsters may trek north to Canada for cooler water.
- With only a 2 ft. track, narrow gauge railroads could handle sharp turns and steep hills efficiently and economically in 1877. Their conductors still have the best uniforms!
