About an hour west of Eugene, OR lies Belknap Hot Springs. Mike took long hikes, with weight, to prepare for his upcoming August hike. I enjoyed long meandering walks with my camera.
- Near the McKenzie River in central Oregon lies this little gem of a place. The accomodations aren’t fancy, but the setting is beautiful.
- Lush forests offer long hiking trails – about 15 miles in either direction from the resort.
- The hot springs are fed into a nicely kept commercial pool, with noodles for the truly lazy.
- The rhododendrons love this damp, cool climate.
- Forest hikes are magical and full of little treasures, like moss clinging to colorful bark.
- Salal, a sturdy green bouquet filler, is native here.
- Loved this fountain sculpture, with water pouring out of the instruments like music.
- Sahalie Falls, which would be a great reward after a long hike, was minutes from the parking lot.
- Morning steam from the hot springs..
