Dallas is the place for golf, music, BBQ and for us – family.
- Welcome to Dallas!
- The name “Hard Eight BBQ” comes from a whitetail deer – the owners watched an 8-point buck grow up to become their ranch’s mascot. They also liked to bet a “hard eight,” on the craps table in Vegas!
- At Hard Eight, you tell the pitmaster what you’d like, and then your plate is WEIGHED. Hello, brisket :)
- Nice to meet up with Mike’s brother Tom and wife Laura, who live in Fort Worth.
- Gorgeous day out on Grapevine Lake Reservoir.
- Here we are in Farmer’s Branch, TX golfing at Jordan Spieth’s home course. Quite the challenge for a couple of hacks!
- This course was ironically named the “Masters” long before Spieth won his green jacket.
- Jordan Spieth at age 8. The coach here saw his potential immediately in lesson #1. Within the first hour, he was showing Jordan how to hit a fade or a draw. At age 8!!!
- “Traveling Man Waiting on a Train”
- This “Traveling Man” sports a 21 jersey in honor of Exekiel Elliott, star running back for the Dallas Cowboys. With a giant mask, of course.
- Deep Ellum is where art and entertainment come alive in Dallas. The name is a drawl on the main drag, Elm Street.
- Recognize her? That’s a skeletal Freida Kahlo.
- Mike’s a rocker of a different kind!
