Ahhh, we love Sedona. Named for Sedona Miller Schnebly, who’s husband was the first postmaster. He proposed “Schnebly Station” for the Post Office name, but it was too long for the cancellation stamp. His wife was well loved for her community spirit, love of education and hospitality. Talk about husband points!
- Sedona from the plane. There wasn’t any air traffic, so we circled around a few times just gawking at the beauty.
- Sedona boasts the only McDonald’s in the world with BLUE instead of Golden Arches? Why? Local city ordinance insists on a limited color scheme to harmonize with the natural beauty. Golden Arches would have apparently clashed with the red rocks.
- Oak Creek Canyon with Snoopy Rock on the right.
- Snoopy, with Woodstock on his nose!
- Why are the rocks so red here? Over millions of years, water soaked through the layers of sandstone, leaching iron, which turned to rust. BEAUTIFUL rust!
- Oak Creek Lookout between Sedona and Flagstaff has amazing views of the Coconino National Forest.
- Sedona is a New Age mecca. You can find someone to channel spirits, read your aura or open your third eye. I’ll just look at the pretty rocks, thank you.
Wow! Sedona is a beautiful area.
Hope Sue’s Mom and everyone is well!
Looks like you’re having all the fun, and we are
having all the RAIN!
