The Oregon coast is delightful in the summer – light breezes and plenty of sunshine. We walked for miles every day on the beach.
- Seaside, OR was the end of the Lewis & Clark Expedition. They were instructed to send back all the ten-foot lions, giant sloths and woolly mammoths they found in this undiscovered land west of the Rockies.
- Mike talking with a local woman who was catching something with her hands near the shore.
- Turns out they were sand crabs, an odd creature without functional legs – commonly used as bait.
- Ruby’s Roadside Grill is a must stop in Seaside, OR, especially when our friend Dave Remer is there. It’s a fun and funky place he created from an old gas station.
- Found these beauties stranded near the shore.
- Incredible sand art – an enormous pirate compass!
- The tufted puffins know what needs to be done.
- Sharks are not uncommon at Oregon beaches, especially in the air.
- Oh, we loved the early morning uncrowded beach walks.
- Catching up with Peter and Tamara Musser, who have a beach house on the cliff overlooking Haystack Rock. Wow! What a view!!
