Seriously, that’s how the French take their food. In order to have the full French experience, we had lunch at Guy Savoy. Year after year, Guy Savoy is bestowed with THREE Michelin stars, making it a quintessential Parisian experience. We made a reservation for a three-course lunch, but we got a four-hour extravaganza with at least twelve courses (I lost count), half of which were dessert. Oooh la la!
- French markets display fruit so artfully. The white raspberries were tasty, too!
- Chocolate hedgehogs raiding the Easter bunny stash.
- Sarah and Kitty mulling over their chocolate options.
- We had to let the vendeur de coquillages know that he had a potential escapee!
- Biting into the heaven that is a proper French croissant.
- Adorable cookies to go with our tiny cups of coffee. Truth be told, we broke down and went to Starbucks for a BIG coffee a couple of times.
- Picasso chargers for a modern table.
- My salmon was “seared” on dry ice, before plunging into very hot consommé with lemon pearls. Now that’s entertainment.
- Our friend Bill François had an internship at Guy Savoy as a teenager, and is still a favorite at the restaurant. Not everyone gets to meet Chef Guy Savoy!
- Just a petite palate cleanser.
- The mille-feuille, or thousand layers.
- This is called PURE chocolate. They brought the hot pastry and set it on top of the chocolate wafer atop the column. It melted the wafer and slipped inside. Chocolate magic…
- Earl Grey sorbet with lemon custard and vanilla serum. How did they even think of this?
- Say CHEESE, Kitty!
- Translation: Cooking is the art of instantly transforming products with history into joy.
