Joshua Tree National Park in Southern California is a bizarre landscape where rocks and cactus pop up with strange and beautiful formations. The Colorado and Mojave deserts meet here.
- Gettin’ our kicks on… you know.
- Did you know Joshua “trees” aren’t trees at all? They’re actually a cousin of the yucca succulent. The Mormons thought the outstretched arms looked like the prophet Joshua, hence the name.
- Mike looked at this rock formation and saw a Hershey’s kiss. I saw a garlic clove. Neither one of us could find the tulip that was supposed to be there!
- The 49 Palms hike has a true oasis at the end of a rocky, barren trail.
- Skull rock, with something in its eye.
- When Freddie Fungus met Alice Algae, they took a LICHEN to each other.
- Face Rock.
- A handsome hiker at Cap Rock.
- I only saw three bighorn sheep when I snapped this photo. Can you find the fourth?
- A freakish hailstorm and mudslide brought an abrupt end to our trip. Thankfully, this is not our car, and the occupant is now OK!
- Sunrise at the Cholla Cactus garden. Conditions are perfect here for thousands of the same cacti to hang out together.
- Cholla or Teddy Bear cactus are “jumping” kind. A mere brush against them results in a piece being very attached to YOU!
