Located in the vast Grand Staircase-Escalante desert, Coyote Gulch is a winding, semi-narrow canyon that snakes its way down through incredible red rock country, and joins with the Escalante River just above Lake Powell. Mike hiked this trip with Wildland Trekking.
- Starting a four day hike with great weather in one of the best canyons in the southwest.
- After some sweaty hiking, a welcome dip in the river.
- Petroglyphs along the red rock wall cliff face.
- Crossing the river was dicey – sometimes the riverbed turned to quicksand.
- Mike never misses a waterfall.
- Facing a 1,500 ft. rock wall from across the chasm about 50 ft. away.
- Jughandle arch – one of many in the canyon.
- Exiting the gulch required shimmying through some tight slots.
- View from Navajo Bridge in Marble Canyon.
