Olympic National Park was warm and dry in August, making for easy hiking. We love staying in the little cabins at Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort. We caught up with our Conservation Corps crew as well. We’re so proud to sponsor their work in Olympic National Park.
- Sol Duc Falls, the most photographed point in Olympic National Park. “Sol Duc” is a corruption of the Quileute word “so is dak qu,” which means “the people living at the place of the clear sparkling water.”
- Sol Duc Hot Springs has been delighting guests since 1912. We were first in the pool at 8AM.
- The Lover’s Lane Trail is one of our sentimental favorites.
- Mike in a grove of ferns, who love this damp weather.
- A burl, which is a deformed tree grain that can make lovely furniture.
- Hiking along the Queets River Trail.
- Taking a break to rest the hiking feet.
- The trees are dripping with moss.
- Beach walking near Moclips, just outside the park.
- A very northwesty castle of kelp, rock and crab.
- Our Olympic Conservation Corps, a fun loving hard working bunch of people!
