Mike tagged along with Walt Yund and his friend Bob Bigler (a bonafide Texan). Bob showed them some Texas hospitality at his ranch for three days, before the trek to Big Bend National Park.
- Just outside of San Antonio, on a typical Texas back country ranch.
- Don’t mess with this Texas honey. She’s a sales assistant during the week, but packs a matching holster on weekends.
- Target shooting to get in the Texas mood.
- L-O-N-G car trips, about 24 hours out of 6 days.
- Mike climbing up dry Capote Falls in Big Bend National Park.
- At the top of Pinnacle Loop trail, halfway through a 12 mile hike!
- Boot Canyon – that rock in the foreground looks like an upside down cowboy boot.
- Vista over 40 miles with no sign of man, looking across the Rio Grande into Mexico.
- Celebrating our Big Bend hike with a beer and another great vista!
- An old windmill for pumping water. Settlers needed precious water for basic survival in this harsh environment.
- The iconic “Windows” view in Big Bend National Park.
- Bob, Mike and Walt kicking back after a great trip.
