Widely regarded as one of the most beautiful courses in the world, Pebble Beach, built in 1919, hugs the rugged coastline and has wide open views of the Pacific Ocean. The U.S. Open has been hosted here four times, and will be again in 2019, for a 100 year anniversary celebration. We also played Spyglass and Spanish Bay, but Pebble is truly world class golf.
- Pebble Beach logo, featuring the Lone Cypress, a 250 year-old tree on Monterey’s coast.
- Morning fog hugs the coastline prior to our 8am tee time.
- How lucky to play Pebble (which we had to book months in advance) on a calm day with SUN.
- This mansion’s nickname is “Lucky Strike”. The attorney who owns it made his considerable fortune by taking on Big Tobacco.
- This beachside cottage was owned by Gene Hackman. How ironic that Lex Luthor would buy coastal California real estate.
- Mike fetching a golf ball from the beach: “Hey, I think I’ve got a shot here!”
- Tapping in a gimme birdie putt. I’ve always wanted to do this!
- The scenery is so beautifully distracting, it’s hard to focus on the golf… but look at that par 3!
- Holy cow, where did that decade go?
- Hitting over these gorges is REALLY intimidating!
- I’m amazed I still hadn’t lost my ball.
- Looking over putts on the iconic 8th hole. Note the golfers behind us on the cliff, sizing up the approach shot.
- Most definitely a bucket list item.
- On the tee box at 18. What an awesome birthday!
- All smiles, no betting, terrific memories.
- Champagne and abalone? Yes, please!
- The birthday treats keep coming! Good thing we’re doing a lot of walking.
- As the bagpiper plays Scotland Forever, we thank the Scots for inventing this crazy game.
