We hiked both Mesa Verde and Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Parks, as well as the Perimeter Trail in Ouray. The clothing optional hot springs are just a mental picture, thank you.
- Mesa Verde National Park, where Pueblo builders sculpted sandstone into building blocks with tools made from river bed stones.
- Inside the Mesa Verde ruins. Water for making mortar was plentiful in the spring.
- Lookout Peak, at 8,575 ft. offers views of Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico and Utah, the four states that meet in that corner of the US.
- Black Canyon of the Gunnison (BCG) has intimidating views from the edge.
- The “Great Unconformity” is a billion year gap in sediment – young marine rocks are horizontal.
- Bill contemplating Today’s Game Plan.
- Taking a breather of some very fresh air.
- Ouray – the Switzerland of America. Pretty funny, as our friends from France spend a LOT of time in the Alps.
- Mike taking in the view, as the last of the winter snow melts.
- We have a tradition to kiss on all bridges!
- Mike and Bob climbing a rock or three.
- Bill and Bob planned a perfect sneak snowball attack on Mike. Here’s the retaliation!
- iBob (our Apple expert) with a vintage communication device. Whoa.
- Picnic by the Gunnison River.
- Michèle and me – Twins! with our matching jackets.
