Todo Santos is the gem of the Baja. There are no time shares, no wandering sunglass salesmen, no drinkfests. This is an art filled, walkable small city with great beaches, incredibly good food and wonderful people. We spoke to quite a few Americans who have moved or are considering moving here.
- Erin and “baby” Lada, now almost 2! There’ll be a little brother coming before too long.
- Mexican sushi and tequila with Andy. The restaurant scene here is a foodie paradise.
- We’re so happy to see Andy and Erin doing so well. Lada is bilingual, and cute as a button.
- La Bohemia Baja Pequeño is the B&B that Andy and Erin started. Beautiful, spotless and great breakfasts!
- Todo Santos has a great funky-artsy vibe.
- Fried pork rinds must be a popular snack here.
- Local artwork you can acutally buy from the artist.
- “A glass of fine aged tequila brings strength and good cheer.” At Hierbabuena farm-to-table restaurant.
- Mexico is protecting the Leatherback, Green and Olive Ridley turtles that would otherwise die while hatching in the relatively cool winters.
- By observing the mother turtle tracks, conservationists dig up the eggs and bring them to incubate in a warm greenhouse.
- Once the eggs start hatching, they’re carefully counted and transferred to bins.
- We stood carefully behind a line in the sand and tipped our buckets, watching the tiny turtles scurry into the water for their first meal.
- Occasionally, mother turtle will lay an unfertilized egg, shown here with nothing inside.
- We loved our beach horseback ride – we could see grey whales spouting on the horizon.
- We wound through rocks and cactus forests.
- Our horses brushed off the sweat enthusiastically with a dust bath.
- Painted cow skulls are an art movement here.
- We took a UTV 4 wheeler from Black Sheep off road for a little Mexican wild west ride!
- Wild pigs roaming the woods.
- So many things I would have done, but COWS got in my way.
- Local pottery, gleaming in the Mexican sunshine.
