Whew! 32 hours total to get here – Cabo to Mexico City to Lima to Buenos Aires to Iguazu. It was worth it – we spent 3 days in this wet jungle paradise of a national park. What a gem. This was the 3rd park in the world (after Yellowstone and Argentina’s Lake’s District) to be designated a national park.
- An aerial view of the 275 waterfalls that make up Iguazu Falls.
- The park is set up with level walkways that snake through miles of jungle.
- Loved this red dragonfly.
- An iguana with a threatening yawn.
- Argentines love their “mate” tea, and carry around large pots all day while hiking.
- A wild ride – we nosed our boat right INTO the waterfall. Naturally, we had the front seat.
- Mike ready for the agua onslaught.
- Postcard pretty – this is only about 5% of the park.
- Wouldn’t you hike a few miles to see this waterfall? This was a mere sideshow.
- Walkways take you right over the roaring waterfalls.
- This close-up was taken in a huge crescent waterfall, as seen in the following photo.
- Kind of hard to capture this all with a camera!
- Coatis, a cousin of the raccoon, aggressively prowl for picnic handouts.
- Spiders as large as my hand. They must be eating a lot of bugs – we haven’t even seen a mosquito.
- Mike’s voting this his #1 international park.
- Wild orchids thrive in the humidity.
- Caimans patrolling the water for a wayward fish.
- A couple of drowned rats at the “Garganta del Diablo”, the Devil’s Throat.
