Hurricane Odie, in September 2014, dominated the Baja Peninsula for 9 stormy days, during which time 92% were without power while dealing with widespread flooding, damage to homes and businesses and looting (martial law was declared in Mexico). Our friends Andy and Erin Wheelwright had just bought their B&B http://www.labohemiabaja.com/ in Todo Santos, which is now a beautiful place. Hurricane Odie just helped with the “remodeling”!
- Our dear friends Andy and Erin battled out the hurricane in their bathroom.
- The airport at Cabo San Lucas was NOT the place to be in Sept 2014!
- These cars had a day at the hurricane car wash.
- Cell phone towers bow to Hurricane Odie
- On a more upbeat note, did we mention the whales?
- The Westin has yet to reopen after 6 months.
- Our beach at Grand Solmar was narrow, virtually disappearing at high tide. Hurricane Odie has changed the beachfront there forever.
- A favorite restaurant of ours in San Jose Del Cabo – charming patio http://www.tequilarestaurant.com/
- Todo Santos is supposedly the origin of the song, but Snopes disputes that.
