The aptly named “Beauty Pool”
This butterfly was a little too curious.
Different bacterial thermophiles living in the
pools create the vivid colors.
Emerald Spring looks inviting, but the water
is about 181 degrees.  Superheated water cools
as it reaches the surface, sinks, and is replaced
by hotter water from below.
This closeup looks like an alien sunset!
This one looks like a river of pesto sauce…
