Sandstone bas reliefs are in perfect condition,
 having been protected from the rains by an

 overhanging walkway.
Cambodians are so proud of Angkor Wat that
it is displayed prominently on their flag.
Some scenes from everyday life were charming,
like this game of chess.
Other scenes depicted were quite violent, battle
scenes, and this one where a man calmly cuts off

his own fingers.  Our guide had no explanation.
