We had a blast at this Chinese preschool.
Education is state run, and mandatory for 9 years.
Older students have to compete for scholarships
based on academic ability to further their studies. 
China has had enormous growth in education –
increasing the number of undergraduate and
advanced degrees fivefold from 1995 – 2005.

Since 1979, China has had a one
child policy for urban parents,
although that is now loosening.
There are definitely more boys
than girls. The exact ratio
is confidential to the government.
And here we are… ironically, one child each.
