Local people stop in for a quick prayer,
light some incense, do four bows and
are on their way.  This Buddha is made
from white jade and weighs 11 tons.
People make offerings to
 Buddha in different ways.  We
threw coins in the incense burner
(harder than it looks!) for good luck.
Jing’an means Temple of Peace and Tranquility.
Originally built in 247AD, it was relocated to
this spot in 1216.  And look what happened
around it!
Once you smell the incense and hear the monks
chanting, you are transported into another world,
despite the fact that it is smack in the middle of
a huge metropolis.
15 tons of silver Buddha!
