Amsterdam’s name evolved from the dam
on the Amstel river – over 1,000 bridges
covering fresh water canals.  Huge locks hold
back the North Sea, so Amsterdam is
actually a few meters under sea level.
Do these make my feet look big?
Cheese!!
Just an hour outside of Amsterdam is
a classic village, windmills were used
to pump water, grind seeds and mill lumber.
The arms of the windmill are made of
sailcloth that can be adjusted to control
the speed of the turn.
