Intrepid: characterized by resolute
fearlessness, fortitude and endurance.
Fueled by Power Bars and lots of carbs.

Hiking along the Hoh River, a glacial
flow running through the Olympic rain
forest.  Uncharacteristically nice weather.
20 miles to the base of Mt. Olympus, 5 to
the top (yes, that’s 50 miles!)

Although the llamas eased the load for part
of the trip, each hiker still carried about a
50 lb. pack except for the final ascent.

The first glimpse of Mt. Olympus, a sweet
reward seen from the trail, a goal that is
still a two day hike away.
