Haha, and the cork sniffing is still a standing joke 40 years later! :-)
I was Olaf’s civilian flight instructor down at Eloy, AZ in the T-41/Cessna 172………A year later I came back to Eloy as a USAF Student Pilott myself. I was in a USAF Reserve Unit at Carswell AFB in Ft. Worth, TX. The reserve Unit flew F105E’s. The THUD. We were a nuclear labs(toss) bomb attack unit Reserves…….I was then hired by American Airlines and retired as a Boeing 777 International Captain, flying out of Dallas-Fort Worth Airport. My wife Shirley and I are retired and live on a cattle ranch in the Texas Hill Country in San Saba County. Ofaf was one of my most memorable characters at the Eloy Flight School…A really good pilot and very pleasant fellow.and I could only hope his life turned out to be wonderful……..Captain Windy Fleming, American Airlines, retired……….God’s speed……..
