My favorite masthead,
graceful yet tremendously
 strong having lasted for
hundreds of years.
Captain Roald Amundsen (1872-1928)
had planned an extensive expedition to
explore the unseen North Pole, when
he received a letter that Cook and Perry
had already made it there.  He immediately
turned course and headed for the South Pole.
He later did an expedition to the North Pole,
and was the first explorer to do both.
It took over a month with 4 sleds and 52 dogs
to make it to the South Pole.  Very tough
men, especially when you look at the
crude boots, gloves and coats they wore.
An original wooden Viking ship, over
1,000 years old.  Excavated from the
burial sites of prominent vikings, who
believed that the deceased could bring
 material possessions with them
 into the afterlife.
