Atop a middle ages era citadel wall, a lone
goat stands guard to warn the valley residents.
Ancient bath house ruins.  The communal
baths were a place to relax and catch
up on news, like a modern day coffee house.
These Lycian tombs were hand cut into limestone
in the 5th century.  (Think about the lack of
tools!)  Carved for royal burial, they were sited
in cliffs near water, where they believed
their souls could more easily be transported
into the afterlife.
There was not much of a trail here, so
we scaled the boulders.  It was really
not too hard, but it looks intimidating,
don’t you think?
