Breathtaking and serene, volcanic rocks
have eroded into hoodoos.  About the size
of Bryce Canyon, the formations cover
over 50 square miles.  Cappodocia is
UNESCO World Heritage site, with little
villages winding throughout.

Our pilot lowered us right into the fairy
chimneys, so called because when the
occupants lit candles at night, they
looked like small fairies.
It was worth getting up at 4AM for this!
After muscling our balloon
to the ground, one of our
handlers said, “Come, I
show you Turkish strong
man!” and proceeded to
pick me up like a feather
and throw me on top
of the balloon bag!
