The discovery of lodes of silver, gold, lead, zinc and copper formed the economic backbone of Ouray for 125 years.   The jeep roads that we love to explore started as transportation trails to the mines…built as someone dreamed of mining ore, working in a mine, striking it rich and giving their children a better life.
