Inside the Grand Canyon Caverns is a hotel room – just one, and it’s 200 ft. below the surface, inside the cavern. They say it’s the deepest, darkest, quietest and largest hotel room available.
At $700 per night, we declined, but it was interesting to see!! Part of the reason for the price is that they station someone at the top of the elevator all night if you stay there just in case you have some emergency (or you freak out), because there is no phone line, and cell phones definitely do NOT work underground.
They swear there are no animals, no bats and no bugs down there, because it’s a dry cavern. Still sounded kinda creepy to me. On the bright side, just think, if you got hungry, you’d have all those yummy bomb shelter provisions :P
