Rounding up cattle is tricky, but it gives you the chance to yell “Head ’em up, and moooooove ’em out” and “Heeyah!” as you are chasing them down. Our job was to find (somewhere in thousands of acres) the cattle that belonged to Red Reflet Ranch that had mistakenly wandered into the neighbor’s pasture. Of course, our cattle were hanging out with the neighbor’s cattle shooting the breeze, so we had to separate them out…those skills we learned in team penning came in handy.

We rode for over 5 hours and it was spectacular – mostly through bushes of wild sage, which smelled heavenly. Unless you were downwind of a cow.
