Yes, we camped here. Yes, the matches got wet and we had no fire for dinner. Luckily some extra matches were unearthed in time to make truly wonderful blueberry pancakes for breakfast the next morning.

The icebergs have calved from nearby glaciers, and float freely in Alsek Lake – it’s hard to get a sense of scale, but they are bigger than your house. Much bigger! We had to navigate our way through several iceberg clogged dead ends before we found our way out to the mouth of the next river.
The black dots on the top of the iceberg here are bald eagles, which were too numerous to count. It was pretty cold up here, they must be an extra tough Alaska variety!!
