Densely packed into huge temple walls are stories of how the pharoah got his power from the gods. No one was allowed in the temples except for royalty and high priests. (All of the servants and craftsmen inside the temples were “priests”).
Outside scenes depicted battle, victory at war, scenes that would intimidate enemies. Such as the scene here with the woman bending over a pile of hands, cut from enemies. The woman behind her holds a tablet to count the number enemies conquered, by counting the hands.
