The Great Pyramids are one of the seven wonders of the new world. There are 107 pyramids in Egypt. Constructed cleverly, they built ever increasing spiral ramps of sand, and pushed the huge blocks into place over rolling logs. A total of 600 million pounds of stone blocks for the largest pyramid. When it was finished, after 20 years, they dug away the sand to reveal the finished pyramid. The very tops used to be crowed with gold, can you imagine? There are solid blocks on the interior, except for passageways and burial chambers.
They were built in approx. 2550 B.C. The tallest one, Khufu, was the tallest man made structure for over 3,800 years.
