Surreal, isn’t it? The sphinx is huge, 241 ft. long and 60 ft. high and 20 ft. wide.

Is carved out of a single piece of limestone, a limestone mountain that naturally existed in front of the pyramid site. The head of a pharaoh with the body of a lion observes the very tiny bystanders.

Theories about the missing nose (which would have been 3 ft. across!) abound, but it was presumably damaged by Napoleon’s army with a cannonball.
