While there are mountains around us, the flatness of the desert makes for truly dramatic sunsets. This area is without clouds nine months of the year, and receives only 1 centimeter of rain per YEAR.

We had a traditional Chilean BBQ with roast lamb, the best we’ve ever had (sorry New Zealand!). Other traditional chilean foods are quinoa (grain), corn, avocado, lemon juice on salads. Pretty healthy diet until you get to the dessert – they do love their sweets here, particularly chocolate. Mmmmmm.
