Charlotte is the epicenter of stock car racing, so we checked out the 160,000 seat Lowe’s Motor Speedway. It has a 1.5 mile quad oval track with 24 degree banked turns. Even the straight-aways have a 5 degree bank.

Ever the adrenaline junkie, I did an official ride along with a real NASCAR driver. We did 4 laps at 175mph, and let me tell you it’s hard to breathe when you get close to that wall.

Among the many things I didn’t know about NASCAR…
1) you have to climb through the window to get in and out of the car
2) there are no headlights, but they paint fake headlights on the car. Huh?
3) it is impossible to take any car photos without capturing an advertising logo
