I’ve been to Alaska about 6 times now, and had yet to see a moose until today, when we saw four. The photo with the park bench is a cow moose and her two long legged calves. Cute!
I’ve found the Grand Teton area in Wyoming can be a good one to see moose on hikes as well.
Mike dropped his sunglasses on our last outing there when we spotted a moose right next to the trail. He made me look for them a few feet from the ass end of a big one that was grazing. He and Dan perched themselves safely on a huge nearby boulder and directed my efforts.
Whatever happened to big brothers looking out for their little brother.
It’s like “A Boy Named Sue”… I knew I wouldn’t always be there to help you along. So I dropped my sunglasses and made you fetch ’em knowing the fear that would catch ya. ..and it’s that fear that’s helped to make you strong. So you oughta thank me before I die for the gravel in your gut and the spit in your eye.
Great Moose photos! Come down to our NW Trek in Pierce County WA sometime and you’ll see lots of them roaming around and they are so curious they put their big snout right into the little van that contains the trek visitors. They have nasal rhinitus so be prepared for a spray if they snort ot sneeze!
