Wow - Sue breaks 90
Yup, that's the scorecard. In Sun Valley, where the elevation and dry air makes the ball go way further , I actually shot 89. Woohoo! Golf is a VERY humbling game however, and I proceeded to shoot a 107 the next day. That feeling of euphoria is quick but FUN!!!Labels: Idaho

Predicting a bull market in Sun Valley
Well, pardner, it was a Western Party and everybody can't come as a cowboy. Somebody has to be the BULL! Here he is complete with horns and a cowbell (or is that bull bell)? Labels: Idaho

With a stripper in Sun Valley
Well, now! This scantily clad lion was actually at the wrong party, but as long as he was here, we took advantage of a couple of photos. To quote one of the female party guests, "Here, kitty kitty!"
P.S. Yes, those are handcuffs I'm wearing. It was a western party and I went as a sheriff. Trying to clean up this town! Labels: Idaho

Taking the plunge on the Salmon River
Next best way to beat the heat is swimming. A joint jump from the basalt columns at the river's edge was heart pounding but fun enough to try twice :)Labels: Highlights, Idaho

Lower Salmon Water Fights

Aside from the whitewater kayaking, then next best way to "refresh" yourself on these trips is a rip roaring water fight. Pretty cold at 7AM!! Labels: Idaho

Here's the clan, ready to raft on the Lower Salmon in Grangeville, Idaho. On the right are Bruce and Jeanne Howard of Idaho Afloat, a great outfitter that we've used for years. What a trip!! Labels: Idaho

Shooting horseshoes in Sun Valley, ID
We almost made it to the finals in the horseshoe competition... not bad for a couple of cowhands dressed from the thrift shop in Sun Valley! Check out my $8 boots...

Cowboy Party in Sun Valley, Idaho
Yes, there was a campfire, which got a little out of hand. Cowboy Mike was a little overzealous in encouraging our host to pour gas on the fire. The neighbors had hoses going, and the fire department showed up just as we were leaving. No damage done, thank goodness!Labels: Idaho

Whitewater Kayaking!
Adrenaline rushes abound on the Middle Fork of the Salmon River. Those 10 foot waves are mighty big when they are up close and personal. We ended up swimming on this one - that's Sue in front and Mike in back

Sun Valley Idaho
Did I mention that Sun Valley is a tough course? How do you like the look of these endless sand traps? The green is too tiny to be seen....at the top of the traps. Nice swing, Mike!! Labels: Idaho

Sun Valley, Idaho: Sue breaks 100!!!
Must have been that "Break 100 NOW" book that I bought. The final score (complete with penalty strokes and no gimmee putts) was 99. Since Sun Valley is a higher elevation the ball goes further here - as in a 190 yard drive for yours truly. Looks like we're going to Ireland :)

Kayaking the Snake River
This is the Snake River Hells Canyon area, between Oregon and Idaho. We did a 3 day kayak trip with Mike's brother Dan and his wife Vicki. Warm weather, great company. Idaho Afloat is a first class outfitter with great guides & food. We sang in the canyon after dark and then slept under the stars. Labels: Idaho
