Shmoozing with the mayor of Chewelah
Larry Richmond, mayor for 16 years, took us around Chewelah on a 3 hour tour of the sights. Lots of trees and rolling hills, farm country, beautiful lakes. The people here were so warm and friendly (our B&B just left the door unlocked for us). It was a nice slice of Americana for the weekend.

Sounds a little like Mayberry U.S.A. Not too many places where the mayor escorts you around town or where the airport loans you a get around town car for $10.
You're not far from the truth! Actually, wreaking havoc with an old police car sounds just like a situation for Sheriff Andy and Gomer Pyle to handle, huh?
The mayor is my brother and he is a great guy. He loves Chewelah and is always happy to show it and the surrounding area off to visitors. Hope you enjoyed seeing the ski hill!

We loved the tour, and will definitely be back to take in some skiing at "49 Degree North" (location and name of the resort)
